Requirement from Rajapalayam,TN-Field Visit and Report

Dear all,
I visited the place Rajapalayam, Virthunagar DT, TN on 30.11.2009.
I and our member Mr.Arumuga Perumal visited few places in the town and met
few persons.
Rajapalayam is a small town which is a centre for almost 20 nearby
villages. Students from nearby villages come to rajapalayam for the higher
secondary and college courses.
Request and Requirement:
There is a computer centre which was established by few well wishers. They
have 7 computers with sufficient benches, chairs, fans and tube light.
3 computers are old computers which were donated by some well wishers.
5 new computers are donated by Kuwait raja makkal samooga iyakkam,
This centre was utilised by the students and Women self help group.
Mr.Palani Kumar (differentially abled person) was teaching basics of
computer. Well Wishers paid Rs.1500 to Mr.Palani Kumar for 2 years. But
they were not able to pay the salary for the past 6 months. Finally this
centre is closed now.Palanikumar is not able to do another job. At present
he is doing some handloom work (Kai Raattai-plz see the photo) and earns
Rs.500 to 600 per month.
If we are able to pay Rs.1500 per month, the centre will support the
students and village people. It also helps Mr.Palanikumar.
Electricity Bill will be paid by the village people. The centre name will be on Indiasudar and/or our partner organisations.
Photos are available @
Brief information about Mr.Palanikumar:
1.He completed diploma in commercial practice. He studied about computers
and as well as few programming languages related to accounts.
2. His father: No income – partially Blind- retired labour from a Mill.
(Age is around 70)

Financial Support required- 1136/1200 marks engg cut off- 197.75 -TN

Dear all,

Our Action board member Mr.Gunasekaran identified three students from GHSS, Idayakottai, Karur Dt. We invited the students and gave them a treat in Karur (just to encourage the students). We had a discussion with the students, One of the student’s father and school teacher.

Though all the three students have scored very good marks, I verified the student Manivannan’s family background with the help of a well wisher. I am planning to visit their houses and the locality on this Saturday. After that I will give the request for the remaining two students.

Student Name: Mani vannan.T (Ph: 98652 49782)

Academic details: +2 Pass – School First – Marks Scored: 1136/1200.

Tamil – 187 English- 174 Maths- 200 Physics- 196 Chemistry-195 Biology-184

Engineering cutoff – 197.75 (MBC Quota & Confirmed seat in Government College)

Medical cut off- 189.75

School: Government Hr.Sec school, Idayakottai, Karur Dt.

(This place is a downtrodden area. Border for Dindugal and Karur Dt.)

His Future Aim is to become an IAS officer.

Family Background:

Father – affected by Paralysis (3 years back) – No income

Mother: 100 days employment scheme – Central Government’s National Rural Employment Guarantee (NREGS). – Salary cannot be fixed. Maximum amount Rs. 20,000 per year.

One brother – 10th std and one sister- 9th std. Both are studying in the same government school.

Staying in a rental house.

Please find the following interaction with Manivannan.

My question: You have scored 1136/1200. But your school pass percentage is 75% only. Then there could be a key person for your success. Who is that (school teacher/tuition teacher/well wisher)?

Manivannan: so many students and my friends took the T.C from this school after SSLC and then they joined in nearby private schools. My aim was to score more marks than them. I did not go for tuition. But I put lot of efforts to get this marks.

My Question: What is your aim?

Manivannan: I want to become an IAS officer. If I get sufficient money to do B.E, then I will work for some years and I will try for IAS.

My reply: Do not worry about the money. Since you will get government seat, we will plan for fund as follows;

a) Try to spend the initial amount required for this application, transport etc. ( one of his school teacher gave Rs.500 to purchase applications)

b) Indiasudar /partner orgs will support

c) We will apply for AICTE’s Scheme on Tuition Fee Waiver scheme for women, economically backward and physically handicapped meritorious students.

d) We will collect fund through other scholarships’ also.

e) Bank loan.

Students from engineering background are able to score more marks in IAS in recent years. As per the Civil service exams 2008 Results, 9 out of top 25 rank holders are from B.E qualification.

If he studies B.E (Chennai and Coimbatore based colleges), then it is easy to prepare for IAS.

I told him to go to Manithaneyam educational trust (IAS COACHING), Chennai to have a discussion. It may help him. If time permits I may go for engineering counselling along with him.

His college and other details will be finalised by July 6th. If you are able to donate even Rs.500 also, it will be helpful. Based on the response, I have to arrange the alternate solutions.

Please feel free to contact me @ 97391 75123.
