We did a awareness creation program in Government High School,Porani,Karur Dt,Tamilnadu on 1st March 2009.Please find the attached file and the below mentioned details. (This school achieved 100% results in SSLC-2009 exam (First Batch). First Mark – 456 / 500. No of students appeared : 26. BUT now four teachers got transfered to other schools.)
Place: Government High School, Porani, Karur DT, TamilNadu
Date: 1st March, 2009,
Objective: To create awareness to the parents and students. (School is situated in a remote area.Since there are more no of drop outs from this school, School HM arranged this meeting.)
No of students in the school: 202. BUT ONLY Students-14 and parents-14 attended.

Work Done:
1.We explained about our activities. We requested the parents to explain the importance of education/attention to others.
2.We gave  few pens, SwamiVivekanandha’s books to HM to be  distributed to the SSLC students. This is the first Batch students from that school.
3.We purchased Toothbrush and Paste (just to encourage the students and parents and to make awareness) for Rs.1694. Since few parents have attended this meeting, remaining items will be utilized later.

Summer Camp in Mayanur,TN

DEAR ALL,     We are planning to conduct Summer Camp (Games-Physical Education).
Place: Mayanur, Govt Primary School, Karur Dt.

Eligible students: 6th to 8th class Students staying near Mayanur Village.

One person has been selected to teach the following.
1. Chess2. Bad Minton3. Yoga4. Gymnastic
He accepted to take the classes during summer vacation.

Total Cost: Rs.2000 -salary- for entire duration and four games.
Rs.2000 (Maximum) is required to purchase chess boards, bat and first aid kit.

Total: 4000 Rs.Maximum.

We are in the process of arranging one more summer camp in another place of Karur DT. Details will be announced soon.

Lecture on ‘Tips to face the examination and steps to secure more marks’-Government Aided School,Nadayanur Village,Karur Dt,TN

This school is located in a village. I went to the school as an external examiner for +2 Chemistry Practical exams. This School does not have a permanent teacher for Chemistry subject. School Management appointed a teacher on temporarily basis. I was able to see the students’ poor performance when evaluating the practical exam Answer sheets.

After the practical exams, I explained about the objective and activities of Indiasudar and our Partner Organisations. I informed them, the following lecture was On behalf of Indiasudar.

Date: 26th JAN, 2009

Indiasudar Members: Udhayakumar, Shiva, Mr.Gunasekaran, Mrs.Shanmukavadivu and myself.

IndiasudarLibrary setup process:

Students from Panchamadevi Village worked along with me to set up the libraries to do the following.

Indexing 2.Library seal -rubber stamp work 3.Books separation -catageorywise. 4. Books separation-schoolwise 5. Packing

Students-Volunteers:

1.Ramkumar 2.Sangeetha.T 3.M.S.pavithra devi 4. Gokul 5.Muthukumar 6.Prabhu 7.Santhosh 

2. Only 142 books were distributed. Remaining books will be given within a week.

8.30 am to 11 am – Government Hr.Sec School,Renganathanpettai,Karur Dt.

Celebrated 60th republic Day.

Inaugurated the first Indiasudar library.

Library rules and regulations were explained.

Prizes were distributed to the girl’s students to encourage their studies.

(To improve the pass percentage- prizes were also distributed to the girls’ students who scored less marks -Sponsored by Mr.P.K.SenthilKumar, Bhaarathchem, Karur)

PTA president explained about our activities one by one. We are able to see his interest on that school.

They are in need of a computer teacher. They will arrange computers.

11 am to 1 pm-Government school,Porani,Karur Dt.

Second Indiasudar library was inaugurated.

Had a discussion with HM, Teachers and PTA president.

There are drop-out students from the schools. Very interior area.

We have to arrange a counselling session to increase the school strength in APRIL and May month. We should adopt the school to improve the performance.

Even we shall announce some prizes or cash awards to the teachers if they increase the pass percentage. (Suggestion)

We can initiate a computer centre in that area. (Requirement)

Very interested and dedicated persons are in and around the school. Very good Support and Cooperation.

Discussed about the present education system along with HM,Teachers and our Indiasudar deployed Teachers.

Visited all the class rooms. Few students showed their performance in cultural activities.

2.30 PM:

Had a good Lunch at Mayanur HM Mr.Gunasekaran’s Farm House.

Note:

1. The remaining libraries will be inaugurated within 15 days.

2. Entire expenditure will be informed in February last week.

3. Future library set up requirements along with the suggested schools will be announced By March First week.

4.Approximte cost per library is around 14000 Rs.

India Sudar Library Set up in Karur Dt, Tamil Nadu

 

As We know already, we are working to setup library in KA, TN & AP. Initially we are planning to set up the libraries in two government Schools ( 6th to 12th std),Karur dt. Later it will be extended to Darmapuri dt. Libraries will be supervised for every 3 months to proceed further.

Libraries for Government schools-Karur Dt

Two schools will be selected based on the following factors:

1. School from a village

2. Having less infrastructure

3. Not supported by NGOs, Clubs etc..

4. Sincere HM or at least one sincere teacher to make use of the library.

Schools will be finalised within 10 days…..            

This project requires the following : 

1. Book Self – made up of plywood having glass doors with lock, no. Of separations-12, 

2. Indiasudar Library Name plate

3. Books (self development, career path, employment, stories, history, biography, science and technology, English books,GK, monthly, weekly magazines and periodicals etc)

4. Library rubber stamp (indiasudar logo)

5. Register Note book.

Catalogue from various publications have been received and INDIASUDAR LIBRARY BOOKS CATALOGUE is being prepared. Book self and rubber stamp are ready.

COST:

1. Book self with name plate – around 6000 Rs.

2. Books and magazines – 5000 Rs.

3. One library project requires 11000 Rs.   

Since so many local (karur) people are coming forward to sponsor for our various projects, we can extend this to many schools in future. Exact cost details, books catalogue, rules and regulations to the HM and Students will be released in our group after 10 days along with the photographs.

Summary:

Total no of schools invited: 45 participated: 20 ( due to first time and also there was a gov’t training program for teachers)
First we had preliminary examination for 20 schools student. After completion of paper correction, We invited 5 schools for Quiz program.
Final round : 5 teams

First Prize: Gov’t Hr.Sec School, Karur
second: Govt’t Hr.Sec school, K.Paramathi,
Third: Gov’t High School, Karvazhi
No. of benefited participants: 60 students+ 20 teachers+ 15 local village students

Highlights:
1.We followed proper time management
2.Food, tea and other arrangements were good
3.We displayed the answer key after the exam.
4. We collected feedback from students ans teachers.
5. We identified four to five service minded teachers. They are ready to help us in our future activities.
6. Chief educational officer came for the quiz program and he was there with us for two rounds. he encouraged us and students.
7. Before starting the program, a small introduction about India Sudar was given by Mrs.Shanmugavadivu.
8. Information along with the video was broad casted in two local TV channels.
9. Final round consists of GK, Current affairs, science,English,Tamil and history etc.
10. Really students were excited and motivated and all of them gave the positive feedback. Till now they did not come across this kind of program. Students are also very intelligent. Next time i should increase the question standard.Most of the rural school students got benefited.
11.Apart from the five teams,entire participants were encouraged by asking questions to audience and also by giving small prizes on the spot( famous confidence quotes with Vivekananda photos).In general all 20 schools are participated actively in final round. This one can be seen in the photographs.
12.Regarding the prizes…..
1- prize- shield, memento ( to remember India sudar),cup, file
2 prize- cup, memento, English grammar book
3 prize- cup. memento, digital alarm clock
4th and 5th – consolation prizes- silver coated medals, pen and calculator
We also gave gold plated medals and a small gift to over all written test toppers ( 7th,8th and 9th).
We provided a small book and 7 page english-tamil easy learning material-print out copies to all the students and teachers.
We also gave the certificates to all participants.
13. We gave the summary report and thanking letter to the school Head masters that day itself. We prepared the common report already.

Ongoing Process:
1. Photographs for the first 5 prize winners will be sent to the schools.
2. Feedback and suggestions letter will be sent to the schools by this weekend.( some teachers gave us proper feedback they identified our mistakes regarding the final round quiz procedure).

Drawback:
1. Less no of India sudar members participated.
2. Less no of banners.we have to keep more banners ( one abt IS activities, one about invitation for new members etc).

Future plan:
1. Planning to conduct quiz program and basic english written test competition for Namakkal dt in the month of July.
2. to conduct a career path guidance program only for rural gov’t schools. Initially three nearest rural schools will be called for this program. One person from karur is ready to sponsor his LCD projector for this activity for one or two days.
3. We can conduct one quiz competition between chennai based homes and orphanages.
