India Sudar Karnataka Note Book Drive – 2012 – Request for Donation

India Sudar(www.indiasudar.org) executes 5th year of Note Book Drive (NBD-2012) project in Karnataka. As part of this project, we will provide educational stationery for rural government school students at free of cost. This includes schools from Gauribidanur & Madhugiri and few orphanage homes in Bengaluru. This covers 40 schools and reaches nearly 5000 students. We need approximately 3.5 Lakhs to execute this project in Jun’2012. Below is the average cost incurred per student/class/school for Higher primary schools and High schools.

Higher Primary School (1st to 7th)

Rs.70 for 1 Student
Rs.1,500 for 1 Class
Rs.10,000 for 1 School

High School (8th to 10th)

Rs.120 for 1 Student

indiasudar-ka Project Report: Karnataka – Note Book Drive – 2011 on Jun 25 Completed


Dear friends,

Last Saturday on Jun 25th, the Note Book Drive 2011 event was executed successfully. Thanks to all the volunteers for supporting us to complete this project smoothly. Before the distribution of books on Jun 25th, few background work was done:
– Co-ordinating with the Head Masters and teachers from every school for the students count
– Preparing the schoolwise/classwise count and prepare the budget
– Raise funds for the project
– Co-ordinate with the partner organizations
– Survey for the vendors to get the best price for note books
– Place order
– Sort the books according to the schoolwise
– Distribution plan

Thanks to Future India Trust and Aviratha trust for joining hands with Indiasudar right from the planning till the execution of this project. Together with the partners, 8670+ students from 75 Govt. schools from Chickballapur, Tumkur, Kolar, Chamarajanagara and Chitradurga districts have benefited from Note Book Drive 2011.

Total Project Cost is over Rs. 5 Lakhs (including the contributions from Future India Trust and Aviratha Trust). Indiasudar has contributed Rs. 2,11,900 (This cost includes the cost of Note books and the transportation)

Aviratha trust distributed the Notebooks to schools in Chamarajanagara and Chitradurga districts.

Future India Trust, Samsung Seva Team planned and distributed the books for schools in Kolar District along with Nagaraj G from Indiasudar. Thanks to Nagaraj for co-ordinating with school authorities and Future India team for planning the event.

Indiasudar team distributed the Notebooks to schools in Chickballapur and Tumkur districts. Thanks to all the volunteers for helping us taking care of all these activities with ease, especially Ramaseshan for planning the event so well right from the start. Also, thanks to Sri Sheshadri and Sri Ramachandraiah for helping us plan the distribution in Chickballapur district and Sri CV Kumar for planning in Tumkur district.




In Chickballapur and Tumkur districts the distribution was executed by following teams. Each team loaded the books in Tata ACE vehicle, accompanied by a car and/or bike

KA-KolarDistrict_Budikote_Gullhalli_Dinnur

Dear Friends,

Visited Date: 06 MARCH 2010

Visited Place: Budikote, Gullahalli & Dinnur. Bangarpeth Taluk, Kolar Dinstrict

Visited By(Volunters): Uday(IS), Vinod(IS), Nagaraja (IS, also part of MARA) and Sandip (non-member)

About the place: All the three villages which we visited are remote villages. Good connectivity from road and roads are good except for the roads towards Dinnur. Main income source is Agriculture and coolie. As other villages this place also no parents are literated.

BUDIKOTE

 

Saturday morning we started @ 0700 Hrs and reached first Budikote village @ 0915 Hrs (15 mins behind schedule). Nagaraj quickly introduced to Principal of the college. In Budikote its Govt. P.U Composite College. Primary, High school and P.U.C are in the same building infact share the building. Constuction are going on and some of the classes are conducted under the tree in open ground.

In this college there only one stream that’s ARTS. 10th pass students are having no option but to choose for ARTS. Very less students who are interested in studies will continue there other streams. Bangarpeth is the nearest place where students can go for SCIENCE and COMMERCE which around 40KM from Budikote.

REQUIREMENT:

1) Principal requested for P.U course materials, There are no pre-defined subject books for PU hence principal requested for various authors books which will be maintained in the Library and rotated. He has given the list of hard copy of the Books.

Govt. High School, Budikote, D.S. Shankaraiah. Vice Principal

– Teachers are adequate

– Pass Percentage is 80.

– There are all together 800 students in High School (8th, 9th & 10th).

– Local lawyer donates note books to 100 – 150 Students.

REQUIREMENT: We are having a requirement of providing Note Books to approx 500+ high school children.

– High school and primary are having separate building.

– Teachers are adequate.

– From this high school last year students represented in state level cultural activities.

– Drop outs are very less.

– Pass percentage is 85.

REQUIREMENT: Along with the Stationeries for the students head master also requested if IS can provide help in giving the Exam and Regular fees for the Students. Exam fees is 300 Rs/ Student and Regular fees is 200 Rs/Students.
