Please find below the particulars of the Independence Day celebration in AmberPet Govt. Girls High School & MachaBollarum govt. primary school conducted by AP-IS team members.

About Program: This event being kick event for AP-IS Team, success was very important. We had many ups and downs in organizing, Coordinating and conducting. Thanks to all those who have directly and indirectly helped us to make it a successful event.
About Amberpet School: It was more than a normal Govt. School. It was an old building which had no proper roof, class rooms or an office and staff rooms. More than 200 students were registered on paper from both Telugu and Urdu medium. Most of the students are from below poverty line, they carried books in plastic covers.
About MachaBollarm School: This school is located in a slum called Erukula Basti or Ekalavya Gopalanagar, Macha Bollaram. 100% of the students are from Below poverty line. The school doesn’t have compound wall. By afternoon Pigs get in to the school compound. The flooring in the class rooms is not suitable to accommodate the students. They do not have any benches or mats to sit. They do not have fans in the class rooms. More than 170 students were registered out of which 120 students used to come to the school.
Sequence of Events:
1) Amberpet school:
100+ Students from both Telugu and Urdu medium students were assembled in the school. Enthusiasm was clearly evident on both – teachers as well as students faces.
Flag was hosted by Head Mistress of the school @ 8:45am followed by National Anthem and then powerful and motivational speech from HM to students, Teachers and other staff members. HM motivated students by referring that school as Shantinektan (Ravindra Nath Tagore’s concept of conducting classes under trees). Students from different age group sang song in the remembrance of freedom fighters and the freedom movement. Motivational and encouragement speech from one of the science teacher, she stressed on Unity and hard work. Students were very studious and patiently hearing to her.
Ravi represented AP-IS Team, He gave few tips on how to crack prepare for exams with a time table to study. He stressed on importance of education and what education can do in their life. Arun another volunteer spoke about IS and its programs and gave few highlights of OneKidOneFifty Program. By end of this sun was on the top of us.
Finally it was time for sweets and gifts to students. Teachers sent the students class-wise to collect the gifts from HM and followed by other senior teachers, AP-IS volunteers.
By this time, all of us were very hungry and we treated ourselves with some sweet and hot; chocolates and tea in the school. We socialized ourselves and discussed ups and downs of the event.
India Sudar thanks School Headmistress of Amber Pet, Helen – Physical Trainer, and again the Volunteers involved for taking special interest in making this event successful.
Below is feedback from school:
1. Students & Teachers are very happy with the quality of bags and stationary.
2. Head mistress, teachers and students are thankful to each and every person who are directly or indirectly involved in this project.
3. Students drop outs are more. Need parents counseling.
We have received below request from School and planning to cover in next event:
Teachers: One teacher for Hindi and Telugu Teachers for Sixth to tenth class, Two computer instructors for sixth to tenth class.
Educational materials: For sixth to tenth class students.
Games: a. Volley balls – 10, Chess boards-2, tennikoit (Rings)-10, Skipping -50, Shuttle bats, Corks – 5 pairs, Carrom board-2
Books: Royal Atlas Telugu-10, English-20
Other items: Water Filter
