Our Action board member Mr.Gunasekaran identified three students from GHSS, Idayakottai, Karur Dt. We invited the students and gave them a treat in Karur (just to encourage the students).We had a discussion with the students, One of the student’s father and school teacher.
Though all the three students have scored very good marks, I verified the student Manivannan’s family background with the help of a well wisher. I am planning to visit their houses and the locality on this Saturday. After that I will give the request for the remaining two students.

Mother: 100 days employment scheme – Central Government’s National Rural Employment Guarantee (NREGS). – Salary cannot be fixed. Maximum amount Rs. 20,000 per year.
One brother – 10th std and one sister- 9th std. Both are studying in the same government school.

My question: You have scored 1136/1200. But your school pass percentage is 75% only. Then there could be a key person for your success. Who is that (school teacher/tuition teacher/well wisher)?
Manivannan: so many students and my friends took the T.C from this school after SSLC and then they joined in nearby private schools. My aim was to score more marks than them. I did not go for tuition. But I put lot of efforts to get this marks.
My Question: What is your aim?
Manivannan: I want to become an IAS officer. If I get sufficient money to do B.E, then I will work for some years and I will try for IAS.
My reply: Do not worry about the money. Since you will get government seat, we will plan for fund as follows;
a) Try to spend the initial amount required for this application, transport etc. ( one of his school teacher gave Rs.500 to purchase applications)
b) Indiasudar /partner orgs will support
c) We will apply for AICTE’s Scheme on Tuition Fee Waiver scheme for women, economically backward and physically handicapped meritorious students.
d) We will collect fund through other scholarships’ also.
e) Bank loan.
Students from engineering background are able to score more marks in IAS in recent years. As per the Civil service exams 2008 Results, 9 out of top 25 rank holders are from B.E qualification.
If he studies B.E (Chennai and Coimbatore based colleges), then it is easy to prepare for IAS.
I told him to go to Manithaneyam educational trust (IAS COACHING), Chennai to have a discussion. It may help him. If time permits I may go for engineering counselling along with him.
His college and other details will be finalised by July 6th. If you are able to donate even Rs.500 also, it will be helpful. Based on the response, I have to arrange the alternate solutions.
