10 Learning Center started at Madurai Dist, Tamil Nadu – 290 students benefited

Dear Friends,
We deployed 10 teachers in following Village Learning Center at Madurai, Tamil Nadu. Last year we had five centers & this academic year (2009-10) we increased to 10 centers.

Location: Near KR Puram (around 3 KM from KR Puram)

This school is a little bit better than the Previous where BBMP (Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagar Palike) is providing the building. They already have books and notebooks provided by Govt and other NGO organization. But they have only 6 teacher for 331 students.
What do they need?

1700 students benefited from 16 Govt Schools as part of IS Karnataka Govt School Adoption project 2009

Hi all,
On June 13th, Indiasudar KA team distributed Notebooks/Pens/Pencils etc to more than 1700 students from Madhugiri and Gowribidnaur taluks in Karnataka.
A survey was conducted (Feb ’09) in schools that were part of the IS Notebook drive ’08 to monitor the usage of the materials that were distributed in June’08. The survey also helped in finalizing the schools that would be a part of IS Notebook drive ’09. A few more schools surrounding these areas were included in an effort to expand our beneficiary list.
Total cost of the project is Rs.1,06,590.
IS KA team worked in 2 teams to cover 16 schools in 2 taluks.
Team 1: Prashanth, Shiva, Udhaya, Ramprasad, Kiran, Kamal, Gurunath (IISc) and Shailesh (IISc) covered the following schools in Gowribidnaur taluk:
1.. Chikkakurugodu
2. Huduthi
3. Ramachandrapura
4. Kadirenahalli
5. Gedire
6. Halaganahalli
7. Kurubarahalli
8. Hosakurubarahalli
9. Thondekunte
Team 2:  Raghavendra, Anil, Ramaseshan, Manu, Anand, Mr. Anantha Krishna, Haricharan, Vinod, Shravani, Amitha covered the following schools in Madhugiri taluk
1. Mydanahalli
2. Muthurayanahalli
3. Adavinagenahalli
4. Kudurebalya
5. Tippapura
6. Gutte
7. Byrapura
Indiasudar has also setup a small library in Kadirenahalli and a recent IS member, Priyanka donated Sports equipments to Chickakurgodu school.
Our sincere thanks to IISc “Note Book Drive” team’s continued support in jointly executing this project.  NBD team has supported 3 schools Kudurebalya, Halaganahalli and Kurubarahalli by providing Sports equipments and Library books (200+ books).  Looking forward for more partnered efforts in future.

Today I have visited to Indira Gandhi International Academy, #10/2, Yelahanka Jakkur Road, Jakkur, Bangalore – 560 064, KA with one of the IT Social Welfare Group(Prayaas) to see the school need and review. I had discussion Mr.Mohan, Bright Society Secretary and Gokila(Admin).
