GOVT MIDDLE SCHOOL, MATHOOR, TAMIL NADU – UNIFORM PROJECT DONE.

MATHOOR, TAMIL NADU

Hello All,

As we planned, I visited MATHOOR GOVT SCHOOL on 3rd March 2008 (Monday) to distribute school uniform for poor students. I apologize for not sending the report immediately.

We had asked 2 tailors to make 2 sets of school uniform for 21 students and they made it for 22 students. I didn’t want to disapport other students without gifting anything. I discussed with school teachers and we reached school with 22 sets of school uniforms, 29 slates, 120 pens and some pencil-rubbers for remaining students.

Headmaster was on medical leave and came to school for this occasion specially. After small introduction about India Sudar and our activities, i had asked my father to distribute uniforms to all 22 students (2 were absent on that day) and then distrubited slates, pen, pencils and chocolates.

I could see the happiness of those students, it was like diwali for them :-). Few students brought their mother and i had small chat with them. They are very poor people and they are not able to buy a new uniform. At the same time, few students asked me directly why we haven’t considered them. Finally, It was a wonderful day for me, teachers, headmaster and the students as well.
My local friends, brother and my father helped to make all the arrangements including school uniform and other stationaries, thanks a lot to them.

Our heartly thanks a lot to DREAM INDIA 2020, JAYASREE JAYAPRKASH, ARCHANA, BALAJI AND NANDHINI to make this project happens. Without them, we would not have executed this project within 2 weeks.

Regards
K.Ravi

Visit to Manitham Trust

08-Mar-2008
Dindigul, TamilNadu.

Hi Frenz,

Last week Saturday (8th Mar), we(myself & Raja Soundar) visited Manitham trust @ Dindigul, TamilNadu.

The trust is being run by Nisha and her husband Riyaz is helping her. Riyaz is undertaking administrative work and Nisha is doing field work. They are mainly focused on below poverty level Dalit & Muslim children. Currently they identified two places in Dindugal dist. 1. Raakki kottam, 2. K.K. Nagar. Among these, she has already found a teacher for Raakki kottam. Raakki kottam is very near by their Manitham trust office. So, they are conducting the free tuition classes @ the office terrace itself. Nearly 35 students are benefitted from this. Most of the children’s parents are daily wages employees. Actually, only few of their children are allowed to continue their studies, ‘coz of the economical status. Some of them goes to the nearby Appalam Company.

Till December, Nisha was working and after that, she resigned her ‘coz of the time constraints. Now there is no regular supporter for the trust. So, they are in need of our support.

We talked with the students also and got a satisfiable reply about the organization. But, the students are not that much matured. They are vey much like some very very village students. (We are saying this ‘coz we visited Thiagam, Madurai also(will send that report soon). There u can find those students with so much maturity even in the earlly years and even in the outskirts of Madurai. They are running the org for 3 or 4 yrs) Anyway, here in Manitham, they have started the coaching just one month back only. So, lets watch the improvements in the coming months.

As far as ourselves is concerned, we can proceed to this project by paying the teacher salary. (There are 3 teachers. 1 paid(1500) and other two volunteers with little salary(500)). My suggestion is, according to the money availablity with us, we can select this project and can extend our support for the next 6 months. After that we can make a visit again to know the progress of the students and can decide accordingly.

Will upload the fotos soon.

Hi Frenz,

On 9th Mar, we(myself & RajaSoundar) visited Thiyagam Narpanbu Kalvi Maiyam(TNKM) @ Madurai. We had a good chat with the chief trustee Amudha Shanthi & her brother Selva. They are very much enthusiastic abt the development of the village students nearby Madurai. Currently we are supporting 5 villages’ teachers’ salary.

Earlier they were working on “village pattern”. Now, they r in “individual pattern”… Meaning, they analyze the impact of the Narpanbu kalvi maiyam on every induvidual in that village and they showed us every student’s report and it was really happy moment for us to know that the change is happenning.

After the discussion, we visited two of the villages and spoke with those children too. Their attitude, behaving with other were so matured. (As I too came from a village, I could realize this). The teachers trained the students now itself to help others. They ask everyone what he helped that day and encouraging them to do more, even it’s small help like bringing bucket water to mom. Really interesting. 🙂

We were fully satisfied with the training provided by them. Finally, we had a very nice village “karuppatti” coffee also. 🙂
