Hi Frenz,
First of all very much sorry for the much delayed mail. (I think, this becomes usual. I hav to change it.) 😉
BTW, we (Myself – 91 and Senthil kumar – 144) visited Thiagam women’s trust, Madurai. The trust is run by AmuthaShanthi, who is physically challenged. First she started a weaving m/c training for physically challenged women. Then, now she expanded the centre for poor women also, in and around madurai. Actually, now the centre is run by her sister, who has dedicated her life for this centre. They export the small items which are manufactured in the centre.
Two yrs back, they started a programme called “Thiagam Narpanbu Kalvi maiyam” (TNKM). In this programme, they choose one or more villages(mostly slum areas) as the target and started teaching the school going children some gud habits and lessons. They select the faculty in the village itself. First they train the faculty, then appoint them as faculty. Some voluntary persons are training the faculties without any fee. And, TNKM will take care of faculties’ payment. They said, after they started this course, most parents came and told, “My son is giving me respect now only.” Yes…. B4 that, the children used to call their fathers “vaada, poda”. J
The trust doesn’t have any regular income. So, they are struggling to pay the amt. So, at present, their primary need is tuition fee for 5 faculties. Currently, they are paying 300/ each. And, they feel the fee is very less and so they wanted to give atleast 400/. So, totally it comes around 2K per month. And, we(TCE-Crescendo e-grp – 2003 TCE CSE Alumnis) decided to pay the amt by ourselves thru India Sudar for the next one year. (Actually, this also took some time to discuss with my friends, and so the mail delay)
Below is the details of TNKM, if u wanna know more.
Luv,
Athi (B +ve)

We have Thiyagam Narpanbu Kalvi Maiyam tuition centres in 5 villages – in Cholavandan taluk near Madurai where we get space, good teacher and community support. In all the five centres 165 students are getting the benefit of free evening tuition in life skills and academics.
